The targeted chromophore for vascular lesions is oxyhemoglobin. The heat from the Laser or IPL is absorbed by the blood in the vein and diffused into the vein walls (endothelial cells), leading to tissue coagulation and consequently, destruction of the vascular lesion. Within a period of four to six weeks, the damaged vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears, leaving the skin complexion with a more youthful, even, and healthy look.
